Stanley Ketchell McBride, Jr., known to everyone as “S.K.”, 77, of Odessa, Texas, died at his residence on the morning of February 3, 2024. S.K. fought a long, tough battle with a chronic illness and a more recent aggressive illness. Visitation will be on Monday, February 19, 2024, from 12pm-2pm at Heartland Funeral Home in Early, Texas, and the Funeral Services will follow on February 19, 2024 at 2pm at the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel in Early, Texas. Jay Fraze from First Methodist Chruch, Brownwood, TX, will be officiating. Burial will follow at May Cemetery.

S.K. was born in May, Texas to Stanley Ketchell McBride, Sr., and Twillie Camilla (Smith) McBride on May 28, 1946. The family moved to Seagraves, TX in 1962 where S.K. started first grade. The family then moved to Midland, TX in 1955 and then settled in Odessa TX in 1962. S.K. attended Permian High School in Odessa TX and graduated in 1964. After graduating high school, S.K. made his home in Odessa and worked for many years at several local grocery stores as a Butcher. He then worked for many more years as a Machinist with his brother, Johnny McBride, at D& M Machine Shop, before he retired.

As a young man, S. K. loved to fish with his daughter and nephews in the lakes of Brownwood, TX. He loved to work in the yard and was always up to help anyone fix or repair anything needed. He was a great neighbor to all his neighbors. He had one child, Shannon Lee (McBride) Meyers, with his first wife, Eula F. Harvey. He then married Rebecca (Becky) Ellen Martin on April 24, 1998. S.K. and Becky were truly partners and spent the last 25 years together and caring for each other into their “Golden Years”. He enjoyed listening to music and loved watching football and car races. S.K. had a great sense of humor and cracked jokes up until his last day with us.

S.K. was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Ketchell McBride, Sr. and Twillie Camilla McBride of Early, Texas, sister Barbara Joy McBride of Grand Prairie, TX, brother Johnny Lee McBride of Odessa, Texas, and sister Mae Claire McCoard of Arlington, TX. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Rebecca (Becky) McBride of Odessa TX , daughter, Shannon Lee (McBride) Meyers and her husband, Jeffery of Houston, TX, son, Christopher Martin, of Denison, TX., grandson, Ryan Dewayne Kizer of Houston, TX, grandson, Jordan Lee Kizer and his wife, Krystyn of Houston TX, grandson, Blake Alexander Kizer and his wife, Emily of Midland TX, grandson, Chase Aaron Kizer and his wife Bayle of Midland TX, granddaughter, Alexis Brianna Kizer of Houston, TX., and grandsons Alex Martin and Kadence Martin, of Denison, TX. He is also survived by nephew Richard Wayne Lynch and his wife, Francine, of Plano, TX, nephew, Monte Hoyt Lynch of Arlington, TX, and two great grandchildren, Krysslyn Olivia Shannyn Kizer of Houston TX, and Hudson Lane Kizer of Midland TX.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Home Hospice of WTX in Odessa, TX, for the wonderful care they provided in the last few months. S.K. loved his nurses, Debbie and Melanie, and the entire team at Home Hospice.
