LionettesStockImageThe Brownwood High School Lionettes will perform during the halftime show with Hunter Hayes at the Capital One Bowl in Orlando, Florida, on New Year’s Day.

The Lionettes were invited to perform after earning top honors at a drill-team camp at SMU this past year. The Lionettes will need to raise $1,200 per student so the 21-member drill team can make the trip. The Lionettes’ mothers’ club will plan fundraisers for the fall semester to help raise the needed funds.

The Brownwood High School Band will travel to Orlando this year to participate in the “You’re Instrumental” sight-reading workshop at Walt Disney World. Band Director David Lambert says sight-reading skills are essential, as professional musicians spend most of their time sight-reading.

The Brownwood ISD School Board approved both trips during their regular meeting Monday night.
