artgalleryIn observance of Youth Art Month, the Brownwood Art Association is again hosting an art exhibit in which all Brown County students in grades 5 through 12 are invited to participate.  Youth Art Month, sponsored by the Council for Art Education (CFAE), is an annual observance each March to emphasize the value of art education for all children and to encourage support for quality school art programs.

In conjunction with this exhibit, the Brownwood Art Association is also sponsoring a $1000 senior scholarship competition and a hands-on art day for students in grades K through 12.

The exhibit will be held at the Brownwood Art Association’s Art Center at 215 Fisk Ave and will open Sunday, March 21 from 1:30pm to 4:00pm with an awards ceremony starting at 2pm.  The exhibit will close Thursday, April 1st and can be viewed Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday each week from 3:30pm to 6pm.

A hands-on art day will be held Saturday, March 27th from 10am to noon for students in kindergarten through sixth grades.  Hands-on activities for students in seventh through twelfth grades will be from 1pm to 3pm.

The art activities will include painting, printmaking, pottery, marbleized paper, wax resist, and drawing.
