The Brownwood Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire Tuesday night in the 1800 block of 1st Street that was suspected to be caused by fireworks.

Firefighters arrived on scene around 7:20 PM to a storage shed in the backyard of a residence fully involved in flames.  The shed was totally destroyed in the fire, and a nearby Ford pickup was also destroyed.  The fire spread to a garage at a neighboring residence in the 1300 block of Avenue J causing damage.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fires, and no injuries were reported.

Brownwood Fire Marshal Buddy Preston said that 3 adults were reported to be shooting fireworks from a nearby residence which is the suspected cause of the fire. The adults have been identified and Preston is continuing his investigation.

The Early Volunteer Fire Department also responded to assist at the fire.
