The TexasBank Holiday Classic Boys Big School Division champion Gatesville Hornets returned to Brownwood Friday night and handed the Lions a 72-60 home loss at Warren Gym in non-district basketball action.

The Lions (10-15) trailed Gatesville (20-4) by a 17-14 count after one quarter, 33-30 at halftime, and 51-48 heading into the fourth period.

Leading the way for Brownwood was Casey Friebel with 20 points followed by Ike Hall with 11 points, eight from Morsello Hooker, seven from Hayden Noe, three from Austin Pittman, two from Hayden Proffitt, Weston Wolf, Grant Gray and Carson Noe, and one point from Ross Stasner.

Brownwood is back in action Tuesday at it hosts Jayton in the pre-district finale.
