KBK Martial Arts students competed in the Colorado River Karate Championships in Brady, Texas on Saturday, June 14.

Sensei Victor Trevino, a juvenile corrections officer at Ron Jackson State School, took home a second in Black Belt Weapons Kata with the Bo Staff and second place in Black Belt Sparring. Wesley Kite, a Green Belt and an employee of Loadcraft Industries, took home first in Weapons Kata and second in Adult Sparring, only losing out to a competitor that was in last year’s State Champions’ top five for their division.

Sensei Bob Green took part in the competition as a judge in the Junior Events and in the Executive Black Belt Competition.

In March this year, KBK Martial Arts also took part in the 50th Annual Lone Star Fair & Expo and Rattlesnake Round-up for the second year in a row.martialarts_RRRoundup

Sensei Victor Trevino, Jeremy Trevino and Wesley Kite performed weapon katas; Matthew Bundick performed a traditional kata; and Sensei Bob Green and Brandon Jones performed cutting demos with their katanas.

In October last year, KBK Martial Arts brought home several First, Second, and Third places from the Augustine Lopez Martial Arts Competition in Early.

Sensei Victor Trevino, Jeremy Trevino, Brandon Jones, Wesley Kite, John Cooley, and Matthew Cunningham all competed for the KBK Martial Arts Team.

Cunningham, a Yellow Belt, took the highlight of the day by taking his opponent into double overtime.
