Monday Update: The driver of the Dodge Ram involved in Sunday evening’s two-vehicle accident with injuries was found to be driving while intoxicated according to Brownwood Police Department records.  Joshua David Wayne McDaniel, 27 of Brownwood, was charged with driving while intoxicated in addition to driving while license invalid.

According to the accident report, McDaniel “went through the stop sign, striking unit 2 in the passenger side.”  McDaniel was noted to have stated that “the throttle froze up, and the truck would not brake.”

McDaniel was also reported to have sustained an injury to his knee; however, he refused medical treatment, according to the officer’s report.

Original Story: Dozens of people watched as emergency personnel worked a two-vehicle accident in their neighborhood, at the intersection of Melwood and Coleman Street on Sunday evening.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., a Dodge Ram Pickup collided with a Chevy Suburban, spinning it into the fence of a residence and causing a significant impact on the passenger side of the suburban.  The damage required firefighters to extract the female passenger from the vehicle and she was transported with what emergency responders stated appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.  The female driver of the suburban was not reported to be injured.

The pickup sustained front-end damage.  The male driver of the pickup was arrested for driving while his license was invalid, according to scanner traffic.

Brownwood Police Department, Brownwood Fire Department and EMS responded to the scene of the accident.

Above and below are photos of the accident scene.
