CoachTeaffCoach Grant Teaff outlined his four fundamentals for a successful life at the Brownwood Fellowship of Christian Athletes Luncheon hosted by Howard Payne University on Wednesday, March 3.

The two-time Southwest Conference Championship Coach shared that, during his lifetime, he has found the following principles by which to live: good attitude, total effort, self discipline and the power of love.

A longtime supporter of FCA, Coach Teaff shared about the importance of the organization in the lives of young people.

Teaff reported that 63% of American children do not have a positive male role model in their lives and the number is rising. He stressed the importance of coaches in the lives of young athletes, “providing opportunities to change lives, making them productive citizens and more importantly aiding their spiritual development and relationship with Christ.”

The aim of the luncheon was to raise support and financial assistance to hire a full-time FCA staff member in the Brownwood area. The Big Country FCA Area Director Steve Keenum shared the history of FCA in the Central Texas area, dating back to 2001. For several years, the FCA leadership board’s desire has been to employ a staff member, but the position must be funded by community support.

TeaffFanaraGrantApplications for the new staff position are being accepted beginning April 1, with an anticipated start date of July 1. The new employee will serve area campus meetings, known as huddles, in Brown, Comanche, Coleman, Mason and McCulloch counties.

Program participants for the luncheon also included Coach Steve Fanara, head football coach for HPU; Coach Bob Shipley, head football coach for the Brownwood Lions; and Kirk Wall, Brownwood FCA board member.
