HOOPS ROUNDUP: May girls win Mullin tournament; Early boys claim Miles finale

MULLIN – The May Lady Tigers won the Mullin tournament championship Saturday with a 52-18 victory over Paint Rock.

The Lady Tigers (8-2) led 21-2 after one quarter, 32-8 at halftime, and 43-12 through three periods.

Mia Musick scored a team-high 20 points followed by 15 from tournament MVP Jordyn Gerhardt, eight from Chloe Lord, four from McKenna Landes and two points from Rebekah Roberts.

The Lady Tigers are back in action at 6 p.m. Tuesday as they host Priddy.

Early Longhorns 65, Bronte 19

MILES – The Early Longhorns were victorious in their final game at the Miles tournament Saturday, cruising past Bronte, 65-19.

The Longhorns led 17-7 after one quarter, 27-9 at halftime, and 48-14 through three frames.

Will Prochaska, Kamden Gamblin, and Rohyn Price each scored 12 points followed by Weston Barton with eight, Dalton Adams with seven, Alex Perez and Andrew Caten with six apiece, and Jacob McDaniel with two points.

The Longhorns next play at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at home against Australia Showtime.

Mason 45, Early Lady Horns 28

MILES – The Early Lady Horns were denied from winning their final game at the Miles tournament Saturday as Mason picked up a 45-28 victory.

Early trailed 21-6 after one quarter, 25-16 at halftime, and 32-24 through three periods.

Jenna Hataway scored a team-best seven points pints by Gabby Benson with six, Jamie Vasser with five, Pearl Sharp and Cali Vargas with three each and Lindsey Bastardo and Cassidy Frerichs with two points apiece.

The Lady Horns are off until Thursday when they begin play in the Hamilton tournament.
