HOOPS ROUNDUP: Early, May girls collect road victories

Jamie Vassar (54) led the Lady Horns (5-7) with 10 points in a victory at Sweetwater.

SWEETWATER – The Early Lady Horns improved to 5-7 on the season with a 41-30 road victory over Class 3A Sweetwater Tuesday.

Jamie Vassar led the Lady Horns with 10 points followed by Gabby Benson with nine, Lindsey Bastardo with eight, Dakota Barksdale with five, Pearl Sharp with three, and Cali Vargas with two points.

The Lady Horns will be back in action at the Miles tournament beginning Thursday.

May Lady Tigers 62, Sidney 22

SIDNEY – The May Lady Tigers moved to 5-2 on the season with a 62-22 road victory over Sidney Tuesday night.

May led 17-4 after one quarter, 33-6 at halftime, and 50-11 through three periods.

Mia Musick led the Lady Tigers with 22 points trailed by Jordyn Gerhadt with 18, Chloe Lord with nine, Kenleigh Williford with eight, Libby Jones with four, Kenlyn King with two, and Estrella Bustamante with one point.

May is back in action at the Mullin tournament beginning Thursday at 10 a.m. against Gustine.

Clyde 45, Early Longhorns 43

CLYDE – The Early Longhorns slipped to 1-1 on the season with a 45-43 loss at Clyde Tuesday night.

Early trailed 12-3 after one quarter, 22-17 at halftime, and 40-28 through three periods.

The Longhorns received 22 points from Kamden Gamblin, eight from Andrew Caten, five from Dalton Adams, four from Rohyn Price, and two points apiece from Alex Perez and Will Prochaska.

The Longhorns will be back in action Thursday at the Miles tournament.
