Carley Benton Barker, Jr.

Carley Benton Barker, Jr., 87, best known as Ben, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 8, 2023. His family was at his bedside as he passed peacefully.

He was born on May 17, 1936 in Brady, Texas to Carley Benton Barker, Sr. and Louise Daugherty Barker, the middle of three children. He led a blessed, full life. He was baptized in Christ at a young age and was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ.

He married the love of his life, Bertha Crouch Barker, in 1959 with whom they were blessed with one child, Keith Benton Barker.

During his life he attained many accomplishments, of which he was very proud. This included attending Texas Tech University with an agricultural scholarship, serving in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force Reserve, becoming a licensed pharmacist, commercial pilot for both turboprop and jet aircraft, real estate broker and developer, entrepreneur for many endeavors, a right-of-way agent/land man and lifetime rancher.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his older sister Carolyn Barker and spouse Bertha May Barker. He is survived by his younger sister, Teresa Habel and husband Jack of Austin, TX; son, Keith Benton Barker and wife Rochelle of Mullin, TX; his grandchildren, Kody Benton Barker and wife Whitney of Mullin, TX, Ensign Jordan Barker, USN, Colton Barker of San Antonio, TX and Michael Curtis of Goldthwaite, TX; and great-grandchildren, Lovelynn Barker and Wyatt Benton Barker.

He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and servant of Christ. He will be truly missed.
