COLEMAN – The Bangs Dragons won the District 8-2A cross country team championship Monday, while Lady Dragon Joey Newton placed third to also advance to the Region I-2A meet in Lubbock on Tuesday, Oct. 24.

Zack Ferguson led the Dragons with a third-place individual time of 18:03 followed by Ben Perez (8th, 18:46), Jayden Gerstenberger (10th, 18:49), Brennen Mendieta (13th, 19:09), Noe Martinez (15th, 19:50), Colton Wagner (16th, 19:54) and Weston Scantling (20th, 20:54) .

Newton was clocked at a time of 13:01 in the girls race.

The Bangs cross country teams are coached by Amanda Hargrove and Chesney Neely.
