Coggin Elementary held its fourth annual 6th Grade Flag Football Draft on Tuesday, October 3. Parents joined their student-athletes in the gymnasium for the event coordinated by Coach Brandon Brown. Brownwood Lions Starting Center Davis Le and Brownwood Lions Offensive Coordinator Coach Dex Dennard were guest speakers at the event and encouraged the young players with their own stories and experiences with the game.
This year’s flag football draft also welcomed its first female student, Emma Soto, to the table. As the draft round picks commenced, players were selected and called out by name to join their teammates at the table.
After the final round, each team took turns getting photos made with their teammates. The following team names were decided by the players: Texas Longhorns, Brownwood Boats, The Dinos, and Chiefs.
The two top teams will face off in the annual 6th Grade Flag Football Super Bowl to be held later in the school year at Gordon Wood Stadium.
