Howard Payne University recently appointed Dr. Michael Rosato as dean and professor of education in the university’s School of Education. Dr. Rosato returned to HPU prior to the beginning of the fall 2023 semester. He previously served in this role at HPU from 2006 to 2015.

“We are excited to welcome Dr. Rosato back to HPU,” said Dr. Cory Hines, HPU president. “His experience and expertise will serve the School of Education well as we prepare future educators to impact lives in the classroom and beyond.”

Dr. Rosato previously served at Houston Christian University for the last eight years. His service at HCU was comprised of the roles of professor of education (2020 to 2023), provost and vice president for academic affairs (2018 to 2020) and associate provost for academic affairs (2015 to 2018).

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carson-Newman University, a Master of Education degree from Texas Wesleyan University and a Doctor of Education degree from Indiana University.

“We are pleased by Dr. Rosato’s return to Howard Payne University,” said Dr. Donnie Auvenshine, vice president for academic affairs. “He is a veteran academic administrator with a proven record, a valued colleague and a great fit for HPU.”
