cowboycapitolrollerThe Cowboy Capital Rollergirls (CCR) will host the East Texas Bombers this Sunday at the Brownwood Coliseum on Sunday, April 13th.

This year Cowboy Capital has joined the ranks of well-seasoned WFTDA leagues, which means facing tougher, more experienced teams. Tougher teams plus shorter penalties (down from 1 minute to 30 seconds this year) equals exciting, action packed games that go down to the very last second.

Familiar faces will be accompanied by new athletes to the league this season. Head Coach of the Rollergirls, Gillotine Grace, Ashley Gill of Stephenville, is excited to say “We have several new faces this season, women that have stepped up, trained hard and earned a spot on our rosters. These women have a lot to offer the league, and I’m looking forward to seeing them develop.”

Little Tank Lulu, Edith Luna of Stephenville, leads the pack as captain. When asked her thoughts going into the CCR’s third season Lulu states: “As we approach our 2014 season I think the fans are going to see a different game. This season CCR, and the sport in general, has gone through quite a few changes.  You’re going to see heart, grit and a more physical game as our team fights to hold their own. You’ll want a front row seat for this.”

CCR Co-Captain BAM, aka Breawna Ballard of Brownwood, is ready to play in front of her home town crowd again, she says “It’s always a big adrenaline rush to get to play in your hometown and get to hear and see all of our amazing fans!!  We have some new skaters that will be making their Brownwood debuts, so everyone needs to come out and support your CCR.”

The doors of the coliseum open at 2 PM, the whistle for the bout blows at 3 PM. Fans are encouraged to make signs for their favorite skater, and gather trackside after the bout to meet them in person. Tickets are on sale now from any local rollergirl, $10 in advance, $12 at the door, trackside VIP tickets are also available for $14, and kids 10 years of age or younger are always free.
