Column by Courtney Parrott, Brown County Agrilife Extension Agent

In a world where the nurturing of our youngest generation is of utmost importance, providing quality training to childcare staff is a key factor to success. Family and Community Health Agents with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Brown, Coleman, Llano, McCulloch, and San Saba counties are organizing a multi-county childcare conference to help meet this need. The event, scheduled for Saturday, September 30 at First Methodist Church Brownwood, promises to be a beacon of knowledge and expertise, tackling topics ranging from health and nutrition to behavior management, social-emotional learning, and safe sleep practices.

Throughout the conference, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with renowned experts and educators in the field of childcare. Guest speakers include representatives from the Texas Department of Health and Human Services, Texas Department of Transportation, and specialists from Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. All topics will be focused on best practices for early childhood education.

One of the highlights of the conference is the focus on practical takeaways. Attendees will leave with actionable strategies and resources to implement in their childcare settings or homes, ensuring that the knowledge gained is immediately put into practice.

The childcare conference promises to be a transformative event for caregivers, educators, and parents alike. By emphasizing health, nutrition, behavior, social-emotional learning, and safe sleep practices, it equips attendees with the knowledge and tools to shape a brighter and healthier future for our children. As we invest in the well-being of our youngest generation, we invest in a brighter, more promising world for all.

For more information or to register for the conference, contact Courtney Parrott, CEA-FCH at 325-646-0386 or courtney.parrott@ag.tamu.edu.
