The Ranger College Rodeo wrapped up its second night of competition Friday at the Earl Q. Wilson rodeo area where the best college students from both 2-year and 4-year schools are competing.

Approximately 430 students from 15 schools are participating in this National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association event such as Ranger College, Texas Tech, Tarleton State University, Eastern New Mexico University, West Texas A&M, and many others.

Each college/university sends their best students who are competing to qualify for the college finals which will be held at Casper, Wyoming this June.

The rodeo will continue Saturday night beginning at 7:00 PM with the finals of the top ten contestants in each event.  General admission tickets will be sold at the gate:  Adults are $8, children ages 5-12 are $5, and children under 5 are $3.

Events include Bareback Riding, Calf Roping, Break Away Roping, Steer Wrestling, Saddle Bronc Riding, Goat Tying, Team Roping, Barrel Racing, and Bull Riding

Ranger College began their rodeo program in the 1970s in Ranger, Texas and had discontinued it until 2005 when it was revived, and the college rodeo has been held annually since that time.  This is the second year the Ranger College Rodeo has been held in Brownwood.

Pictured are some participants from Friday night.
