According to a post to the Facebook page of Howard Payne University Alumni, The HPU family was saddened by the news that Ray Hildebrand ’64 passed away on August 18, 2023. As HPU students in the 1960s, he and Jill Jackson Landon achieved worldwide fame as the singing duo Paul and Paula. Their best-known song, the #1 hit “Hey Paula,” was also written by Ray. He went on to be a pioneer in contemporary Christian music and worked with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for many years.
