Brownwood Lions baseball are participating in the Waco/Robinson tournament and suffered a loss Thursday in their first game against Robinson, then redeemed themselves as they won against Salado and then Lubbock Cooper.

In their first game of the tournament Thursday afternoon in Waco against Robinson, the Lions were held scoreless for the first three innings.  Although Brad Durand was pitching good for the Lions, Robinson was a good batting team and reading his pitches well scoring 10 runs in the first three innings.

The Lions were able to score one run against Robinson in the 4th inning.  Tristan Chesser came in to pitch in the 4th; however Robinson continued to bat well and scored another 5 runs leaving the Lions with a loss of 15-1.

Thursday evening, the Lions took on Salado, with the sun setting and temperatures dropping.   Osteen was on the mound.  The game was scoreless through the second inning.

The Lions put the first run on the board in the third inning; however, Salado answered back with two runs in the bottom of the third.

The Lions scored 6 runs in the 4th inning and held Salado through the fifth inning.  Pablo Salazar came in to pitch in the 6th, finishing out the game.  Salado managed another three runs in the 6th inning.  In the 7th, the Lions scored a final run, winning with a score of 8-5.

Brownwood faced Lubbock Cooper Friday evening in their third game of the tournament.  Just before the game, news came that Salado had defeated Robinson in an earlier game.

Pitching was Seth Owen throughout the game.  The first two innings were scoreless, then in the 3rd, Brownwood made 2 runs.  Lubbock answered back in the fourth tying up the score 2-2.

The game remained tied through the 7th inning and went into overtime in an extra inning.  Lions score one final run for the win in the 8th for a 3-2 win.

Saturday’s games move to Robinson for the Lions.  They will face the winner of tonight’s game between West and Corsicana at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.  If the Lions win Saturday’s game, they will be in the championship game at 5:30 p.m.   If the Lions lose, they will play at 3:00 p.m. in the consolation game.

The Lions are currently 4-5 for the season.
