Leroy Edward (Ed) Arrington, 76, of Grand Prairie, formerly of Brownwood, passed away on July 27, 2023.

A Celebration of Life for Ed will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, August 7, 2023, at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel, with graveside services following at Greenleaf Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at the funeral home on Sunday, August 6, 2023. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

Ed was born to Leroy Arrington and Anna Bea (Hodges) Arrington on April 21, 1947, in San Deigo, California. After graduating high school, Ed served his country in the United States Army in Korea and Germany. Ed moved to Texas with his family in 1977 and settled in Rochelle and Brownwood. In 1989 Ed relocated to Grand Prairie for work, where he lived the rest of his days.

Ed enjoyed his work as a mechanic throughout his career and loved to work with his hands. He found joy in landscaping his yard and gardens. To be friends with Ed was to have a constant helping hand. He was always happy to lend help to friends and strangers alike.

Ed dearly loved his wife, Pettye (Russell) Arrington, whom he married on June 24, 1988. She was truly the love of his life. Ed and Pettye had five children, many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with whom they found much love and joy.

Ed is survived by his brother, Wayne Arrington and wife Jan of Apache Junction, Arizona; son, Matthew Arrington and wife Skye of Early; son, Rusty Whitfield of North Richland Hills; and his daughter, Lashanda Whitfield of Ft. Worth. Additionally, Ed’s grandchildren include Joshua Arrington and wife Amanda of Bangs; Dylan Arrington, Chazz Crook, and Mitchelle Callaway of Brownwood; Connor Arrington and wife Hannah of Brownwood; Rachel Arrington, Anna Arrington, Mattie Arrington and Jaxon Arrington of Early. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Bea Arrington; his daughter, Karyn Arrington; son, Jim Arrington; and his wife, Pettye Arrington.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Greenleaf Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 455, Brownwood, Texas 76804-0455.
