David A. Murray, (age) 80 passed away on July 19, 2023 in Brownwood, Texas.

Graveside services will be 10:00 A.M. on Monday, July 24, 2023 at the Richland Springs Cemetery Pavilion.  Interment will follow at the Richland Springs Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home in Early. There will be no visitation.

David Archer Murray was born January 30, 1943 in San Antonio, Texas to Winston B. Murray and Maudie P. Murray.  David spent his younger years in San Antonio, Richland Springs, Alaska and San Angelo.  He graduated from San Angelo Central High School.

He married the love of his life, Susie Patterson on September, 1963 and began a life together in west Texas that blessed them with 2 children, David Bryan and Suzanne.

David loved his family and enjoyed spending time with the love of his life, Susie.  They went on several cruises together as well as attended Country Swing Dances as often as they could and danced the night away.  David began working for EXXON in 1964 and worked for them in the States as well as abroad.  He was a Senior Drilling Superintendent at the time of his retirement in 1994.

David is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Morrell and husband Doug of Abilene, Texas; son, David Bryan and wife Lori of Placitas, New Mexico; 3 granddaughters and 4 great grandchildren; Sister, Betty Springer and husband Colby Springer of Austin, Texas; Brother, Tom Murray and wife Elizabeth of San Saba, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and a grandson Nate Morell.

In lieu of flowers, family suggest donations to American Lung Association or Richland Springs Cemetery Association (PO Box 294, Richland Springs, TX  76871)
