Jimmy Wayne Sharp, age 78, of Blanket passed away from this life to life eternal with Jesus on July 13, 2023.

Jimmy was born March 27, 1945, on the railroad overpass on Highway 84 coming from Bangs to Brownwood. His parents were Robert and Fannie Sharp of Bangs.

He was baby brother to Robert (Bobby) and Albert.

Jimmy attended all 12 years of school at Bangs where he participated in football and FFA. He graduated in 1963. He helped build the stadium at Bangs High School using his welding skills.

He entered the workforce caring for farm animals for a local doctor. Then he was employed by Jim and Fay Gil who raised breeding Hereford bulls. Because this included a breeding circuit, he traveled up north some.

In 1966, Jimmy started working at the Texas Dept. of Transportation and worked up to the top as maintenance Supervisor of Brown County. He retired from TxDot in 2001 after 35 years and 3 months. In 1972, Jimmy joined the masons in Bangs and later in ’72 became a Shriner.

In 1975, on a blind date he met Teenie Rhee Townsend. They met in May of that year and got married in July. They would be celebrating 48 years on July 18th.

Jimmy and Teenie moved to the Townsend farm near Blanket in 1977. There he ran and raised cattle; did some farming.

The travels began after they both retired and they did love to travel all over the highways of Texas and beyond.

Jimmy became involved in the Shriners Oriental Band, Provost Guard pistol shooting competitions.

He was elected Potentate in 2010.

In 2022, he received his 50-year membership certificate from local Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Suez Shriner’s.

Jimmy was a tough man with a strong will to live. He faced every battle with his health head on. He encouraged many to do the same.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents and brothers.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, sisters in law, Betty Sharp and Martha Townsend, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Funeral service for Jimmy Sharp is Tuesday July 18, 2023, at 10:30 am

at Davis Morris chapel of Heritage Funeral Home at 800 Center Ave in Brownwood, Tx

Burial will be at Bangs Cemetery in Bangs Tx with Masonic Rites.

Visitation is set for Monday, July 17 from 6-8 pm
