Ricky Coleman Preas

Ricky Coleman Preas, age 70, of Bangs, passed away on June 28, 2023. A visitation will be held 4 to 6 PM on Sunday, July 2 at Heartland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Monday, July 3, at Heartland Funeral Home in Early, with Artie Woodcox officiating.

Ricky was born March 19, 1953 to Coleman and Bennie Koenig Preas in Bayard, New Mexico. The family moved to Texas and Ricky grew up in Coleman County. Later, Ricky moved to San Angelo where he met Sherry Murphy, the love of his life, and they married on September 18, 1976. They moved to Bangs in May 1979, where they raised their two daughters, Shelly and Pamela.

Ricky was employed by Kohler for 27 years and after his retirement, he worked for Central United Methodist Church in Brownwood. He joined the Bangs Fire Department in 1979 and served as the Fire Chief for several years in addition his volunteer work there.

Ricky is survived by his wife, Sherry; daughters, Shelly Spencer and husband Jerome, Pamela Lehman and husband Jared; grandchildren, Adler Spencer, Christian Lehman, Hayden Lehman, Autumn Ellis and Jared Lehman Jr.; sister, Patti Oliver; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends, including his life-long best friend, Lonnie Wade Jackson and his wife Wanda, and special friends, Jerry and Deborah Shepherd.

Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, Coleman and Bennie Preas.
