Beginning Monday, June 19, 2023, The Texas Department of Transportation’s contractor, J.H. Strain and Sons, Inc., will begin a widening project on US 84, from the railroad overpass south of Coleman to approximately 0.5 miles north of FM 568.

The project will widen the roadway and add a center (left) turn lane through this area.

Barricades will be placed on Monday, reducing traffic to one lane in either direction during construction. Outside lanes will be widened. An overlay will be placed once widening is completed, then traffic lanes will be striped for two travel lanes in each direction with the addition of a center turn lane.

Work is expected to be complete in late Fall 2023, weather permitting.

Motorists are asked to use caution when driving in this area. Please obey warning signs, avoid distractions and watch for crews and equipment. Please allow extra time to arrive at your destination as delays may occur.
