On Sunday 02/14/2010 the Early Police Department executed a search and arrest warrant for drugs arresting 3 people and seizing a quantity of marijuana along with other items.

The Early Police Department began an investigation early last week regarding the use and sale of marijuana in the Early area. Sgt Shawn Dibrell and Officer John Mills conducted the investigation and developed information leading to a residence in the 2100 block of 12^th street in Brownwood. A no-knock search warrant was drafted, which was reviewed and signed by Judge Bryan Thompson early Sunday morning.

Sgt Troy Carroll with the Brownwood Police Department was contacted Saturday evening and began assisting in the investigation. On Sunday morning, 02-14-2010, the Brownwood Police Department’s tactical unit made entry to the residence and secured the suspects in the residence without incident. Several individuals were located inside the residence at that time. Officers from Brownwood Police Department and Early Police Department began searching the residence for illegal drugs. While in the residence officers developed information that some of the drugs may be at another location.

Sgt Shawn Dibrell and Sgt Troy Carroll went to a residence in the 600 block of Ave C in Brownwood. They obtained permission to search and located approximately one and a half pounds of marijuana. Officers continued to search the residence on 12^th street and Ave C and seized 2 pounds of marijuana, a small amount of methamphetamines, prescription medications xanax, vicodin and soma pills, scales and packaging material.

David Marcus Miranda, 20-year-old of Brownwood:  Charged with Possession of Marijuana over 2oz, Possession of controlled substance, and Possession of Dangerous drug.

Codie James Ledlow, 23-year-old of Brownwood:  Charged with Possession of Marijuana over 4 oz under 5 lbs and Unlawful use of criminal instrument.

Lily Katelin Maxwell, 19-year-old of Brownwood:  Charged with Possession of Marijuana over 2oz, Possession of controlled substance, and Possession of Dangerous drug.

“The Brownwood Police Departments Tactical Unit did an outstanding job and I want to commend officers from both agencies on their efforts,” said Early Police Chief David Mercer.   “I will continue to take an aggressive stance against drugs.  When agencies work together it benefits the people of both Brownwood and Early in getting drugs off the streets and putting dealers behind bars.”
