Every December the Brownwood Regional Medical Center Volunteers, with the assistance of “The Missing Stitches Embroidery Group,” provide Christmas stockings to newborn babies and patients.

New mothers and their babies born at BRMC are given large Christmas stockings to take the baby home, in remembrance of the baby’s very first Christmas.  In addition, BRMC patients on Christmas Eve are given small Christmas stockings with candy canes or peanut butter crackers by the BRMC volunteers.

“The Missing Stitches Embroidery Group,” a local sewing and embroidery group made up of many individuals throughout the Brownwood area, has fabricated these items for many years for the BRMC volunteers.

During December 2013, 54 large Christmas stockings were distributed to newborn babies and 65 small stockings were distributed to patients, family members, and guests.

The BRMC volunteers are very thankful to “The Missing Stitches Embroidery Group” for making this Christmas and past Christmas seasons brighter for the patients of Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

Representatives from “The Missing Stitches Embroidery Group”:  (L-R) Back Row – Valerie Kelton, Jeanneene Johnson, and Bobbie Lee Fryar. Front Row (L-R) – Carol Bullion, Mildred Turner, Millie Schwab, and Daisy Huntsinger- group coordinator. The representatives are holding examples of the Christmas stockings distributed.
