Betty Dee (Lively) Duggan

Betty Dee (Lively) Duggan, 87, of Big Sandy, Texas formerly of the Brown County area passed away at her home surrounded by her loved ones, Friday, May 19, 2023. A visitation with family will be held at the Heartland Funeral Home, 6:00 – 8:00 PM, May 23, 2023. Graveside service beginning at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at the Rising Star Cemetery, Rising Star, Texas officiated by her nephew, Dale Duggan and dear friend, David Smith.

Betty was born July 22, 1935 in Brady, Texas to Doris Milton and Mary Lively. She graduated from Bangs High School and immediately went to work. Betty was an active person and worked at several different administrative positions. She was always friendly and engaging to people she met. She was also an avid animal lover. Betty met Garry Duggan in Lampasas at the VFW Valentine’s dance. They married in San Saba, Texas on June 15, 1978 and began a life together that blessed them both for almost 50 years. Betty and Garry lived in the Rising Star area for a time before moving to Big Sandy, Texas near family. Betty was a beautiful lady with a beautiful soul and kind nature.

Betty is survived by her beloved husband, Garry Duggan of Big Sandy; daughter, Terry Eason Hill of Rudy, Arkansas; son, Richard Eason and wife Lori of Brownwood; 3 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Doris Milton and Mary Lively; son-in-law, Tony Hill; and sister Sondra.

The family would like to thank special friends, David and Becky Smith and their church family for all the help and support given in the last months with special regard to her nurses, Jennifer and Kelly.
