Brad Jernigan

Brad Carey Jernigan, 70, of Brownwood, passed away Saturday morning, April 15, 2023.  A visitation with family will be held at Heartland Funeral Home, Friday, April 21, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM.  Funeral service begins at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 22, 2023, in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Zephyr Cemetery with Pastor Brian Hall officiating.

Brad was born August 30, 1952, in Whittier, California, to Cecil and Mildred (Blythe) Jernigan.  He moved to Brownwood with his mother in 1989. He married Rebecca J. McBride on February 14, 1995, and later divorced in November of 1996, there were no children.  Brad has been a long-term resident of Songbird since his mother’s passing.

Brad loved dirt bikes, dune buggies, Jeeps, hot rods, music, he loved visiting and making friends and family get togethers.

Brad is survived by his brother, Doug Jernigan of Whittier, California, cousins Darla (caregiver) and husband Bobby Brewer, and Deborah Price of Brownwood.  Uncle Johnny Claud Blythe of Blythe, California, and several other cousins and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Cecil Jernigan of San Jose, California, mother Mildred Louise Jernigan of Brownwood, maternal Grandmother Callie Lea (McClure) Blythe of Brownwood, Aunt and Uncle Billy Joe and Velma Blythe (caregivers) of Brownwood.

The family would like to thank Songbird for their care and friendship over the years.
