EARLY – The Texas Girls Coaches Association Class 3A No. 15 Early Lady Horns reclaimed the top spot the District 8-3A standings with a comfortable 15-0 home victory over Millsap Friday.

The win by Early (24-4-2, 11-1), coupled with Peaster’s 4-2 victory over Brock Friday, gives the Lady Horns sole possession of first place in the 8-3A standings with two games remaining.

The Lady Horns jumped out to a 9-0 lead after one inning and two runs each in the second, third, and fourth frames.

Early finished with nine hits, drew eight walks and Millsap committed a pair of errors.

Teagan Lopez homered, finished with two hits, and drove in two, while Stoney Laughlin recorded three hits – including a triple and a double – and plated three runs. Jordan Simmons also tallied a pair of hits and two RBIs, while Aubrey Greaves drove in two and notched a hit. Trinity Torrez finished with one hit and one RBI, while Reagan Shults and Brooklyn McCullough were each credited with an RBI.

In the circle, Lopez hurled a four-inning no-hitter with eight strikeouts and one walk, while the Early defense committed just one error.

The Lady Horns will visit Breckenridge at 5 p.m. Tuesday and host Comanche at 5 p.m. Friday to put the finishing touches on the regular season.
