Thomas “Tommy” Petross

petrossThomas Lynn Petross, age 69, passed away with his family by his side at his home in Early, TX on Thursday, November 21, 2013.   He was born on July 19, 1944 in Brownwood, Texas to Cadmon and Avis Petross of Blanket, TX.

Tommy attended school at Blanket and graduated from Blanket High School in 1962.  He attended Howard Payne University but decided to follow his passion for farming and ranching instead of pursuing a college education.   He served on the May ISD school board, was President of Brown County Farm Bureau for eight years and held other offices as well over the years.  He married Keily Hammer Purcell on August 22, 1997.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and giving the grandkids and great grandkids rides on the “Chuck Wagon” which always put a smile on his face.  He was a member of Blanket Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Keily Petross; mother, Avis Petross; daughters, Yvonne Wisdom and husband Pat of Longview, TX, Cathy Pennington and husband Andy of Lago Vista, TX, Jennifer Petross of Coleman, TX, Tammy Walker and husband Matt of Morrow, OH and Ashley Purcell; sister Melinda Petross of Stephenville, TX;  brothers, Gene Petross and wife Joyce of Cleburne, TX, and Mark Petross and wife Debra of Blanket, TX; eleven grandchildren (Kindi, Danyce, Jacob, Lacy, David, Ryker, Jess, Jodey, Lexi, Mason and Colin); nine great – grandchildren (Addison, Adriana, Saydi, Emori, Preston, Cayden, Kaine, Martin, Levi); as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Cadmon Petross; sister, Melva Rae Petross; brother, Larche Petross; one granddaughter and two great granddaughters.

Funeral services for Tommy will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel with Aaron LeMond officiating, interment to follow at Moro Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6-8 at Blaylock Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to West Texas Rehabilitation Center Abilene, TX. Family and friends are welcome to leave online condolences at www.blaylockfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.
