Radford L. Sansom

sansomFuneral services for Radford L. Sansom will be held at 10 AM Friday, November 22, 2013, at the Early First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Thursday at Heartland Funeral Home Early.

Mr. Sansom passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013, at the age of 93. He was born in October 8, 1920 in Jacksboro, Texas to Dawson and Susie Evans Sansom.

Radford served in Tensleep Montana with the Civilian Conservation Corps. He also served as a PFC in the Army during World War II. He had a wife and two small children at home during his military service. He retired from Bell Helicopter and along with his beloved wife Annie moved to Early in 1988. He was a member of the Early First Baptist Church. Radford was an amateur artist, a quite accomplished wood worker and was loved and respected by all who knew him.

He is survived by his son, Lloyd and wife Alice Elaine Sansom; his granddaughters, Cheryal Sansom Clark and Donna and husband Bobby Lamkin; and his grandsons, Lloyd Britt Sansom and wife Dawn and Robert and wife Krista McDougal. He is also survived by a sister, Joyce Buck; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Annie Ellen Cumba Sansom; daughter, Gloria Annette McDougal; three sisters, Eva Phelps, Jippy Smith, Judy Radnagle; and one brother, Raymond Sansom.

The family is eternally grateful to the staff and employees of the CARE Nursing Facility for the loving care rendered to Radford. The family request memorials be given in Radford’s memory to the Early First Baptist Church.

Heartland Funeral Home of Early is in charge of arrangements.
