William W. (Bill) White

William W. (Bill) White of San Angelo, Texas, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2023. Bill was born October 18, 1941, to William H. and Opal Wilder White in Brownwood, Texas. Bill graduated from Brownwood High School in 1959, where he was in the marching band and The Old Gray Mare stage band. After high school, he joined the Texas National Guard and served for 10 years. Bill and Betty Stokes White married in 1962. He later received his BA from Angelo State University where he was a member of Delta Sigma Phi. He began his telephone career in 1963, working for Southwestern States in Brownwood. In 1966, he was transferred to San Angelo after a merger with GTE. He later worked in Brownfield as a supervisor and then moved to Garland where he retired as a right of way agent in 1999.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Justin Michael Stout. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, his son Wesley White of San Angelo, Mechelle Bill and her husband Cody of Lubbock. He is also survived by his grandchildren Gatlin Bill of Lubbock, Sarah and her husband Brandon and their son Paxton, Hudson Lockenour of Stephenville, Garrett and his wife Chesanie and their daughter Charlotte Bill of Lubbock, Avery Bill of Stephenville, and Payton White of San Angelo. Bill is survived by his sisters Deola Mitts of San Angelo and Delora Mathews of Cedar Park, his brother Craig White and his wife Lana of Taylor, as well as several nieces and nephews and their families.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to a charity of your choice or to Hospice of San Angelo.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 24, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Heartland Funeral Home in Early, Texas, immediately followed by a graveside service at Greenleaf Cemetery in Brownwood at 3:30 pm.
