LOHN – The Brookesmith Lady Mustangs are back in the playoffs for the first time since 2020 thanks to Tuesday’s 50-7 victory over Lohn in the District 17-A and regular season finale.

Brookesmith (18-12, 4-6) led 13-2 after one quarter, 27-2 at halftime, and 37-5 through three periods.

Mya Richards led the Lady Mustangs with 11 points followed by seven from Emma Slayton; six each from Harley Gilliam, Nevaeh Neith, and Sharon Beth Bradley; four apiece from Mercedes Rodriguez and Elida Uvalle; and two points each from Kristen Langley, Ava Hathcock and Elva Garay.

The Lady Mustangs are tentatively slated to face Priddy in bi-district playoff action at 6 p.m. Monday in Zephyr.

Early Longhorns 47, Comanche 32

EARLY – The Early Longhorns completed a District 8-3A sweep of Comanche Tuesday night, 47-32, to establish a firm grip on third place in the league standings with two games remaining.

Early (7-5 in district) led fourth-place Comanche (6-6 in district) by an 11-4 count after one quarter, 23-16 at halftime, and 33-28 through three periods.

The Longhorns received 18 points from John Hill, 12 from Kaleb Hoffman, eight from Jeremy Brown, four from Andrew Caten, three from John-Stewart Gordon, and two points from Rohyn Price.

Early will host Eastland at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Brookesmith Mustangs 70, Lohn 23

LOHN – The Brookesmith Mustangs improved to 2-6 in District 17-A action and 11-15 for the season with a 70-23 road win over Lohn Tuesday night.

The Mustangs led 22-5 after one quarter, 38-13 at halftime, and 62-18 through three periods.

Trey Toft led Brookesmith with 40 points followed by Landon Slayton with 14, Adyn Ribble with seven, Jerry Petross with six, and Caleb Bradley with three points.

Brookesmith will host Cherokee Friday.

Eula 65, May Tigers 48

EULA – The May Tigers were dealt their first defeat in District 13-A action, falling at Eula, 65-48, Tuesday night.

The Tigers (22-5, 7-1) fell behind 14-7 after one quarter, grabbed a 26-24 halftime lead, and were tied at 40 going to the fourth period, where Eula pulled away.

Braden Steele led May with 14 points trailed by 13 from Zach Martin and nine from Luke McKenzie.

May will host Rising Star Friday night.

Eula 57, May Tigers 19

EULA – The May Lady Tigers finished as the third place team in District 13-A following Tuesday night’s 57-19 loss at Eula.

May (19-13, 6-4) trailed 11-4 after one quarter, 28-7 at halftime, and 43-17 through three periods.

Jordyn Gerhardt led May with eight points followed by five from Kenleigh Williford.

The playoff-bound Lady Tigers will likely face either Westbrook or Highland in the bi-district round, but that information was not finalized Tuesday night.

Roscoe 60, Bangs Lady Dragons 22

ROSCOE – Despite a 60-22 loss at Roscoe in their regular season finale, the Bangs Lady Dragons are headed to the playoffs as the fourth seed out of District 8-2A.

Bangs, which finished 3-7 in district, will face District 7-2A champion Ozona at a time and place to be determined.

Against Roscoe, the Lady Dragons trailed 18-6 after one quarter, 37-8 at halftime, and 47-15 through three frames.

Kasey Solis led Bangs with seven points followed by three from Joey Newton, and two each from Raylee Hutchins, Rylie Guerrero, Neeley Bradley and Jadyn Miller.

Comanche 74, Early Lady Horns 44

EARLY – The Early Lady Horns concluded their basketball season with a 74-44 loss to Comanche Tuesday night.

The Lady Horns (0-14 in District 8-3A action) received 12 points from Averey Horton; six each from Caroline Welker, Madison Torrez and Jodi Lykes; five from Katie Whitehead; four from Lindsey Bastardo; three from Memorie Castro; and one point each from Dakota Barksdale and Jenna Hataway.

Roscoe 36, Bangs Dragons 30

ROSCOE – The Bangs Dragons were again denied their first District 8-2A victory as they were dealt a 36-30 setback in Roscoe Tuesday night.

Bangs (0-8 in district) trailed 11-5 after one quarter, 17-9 at halftime, and 28-18 through three periods.

The Dragons were led by Tyson Woods and Guy Funk with 10 points apiece, Hunter Newton with six, Guy Powell with three, and Weston Jundt with one point.

Bangs hosts Miles Friday night.
