Early Police Chief David Mercer to Speak at Pecan Valley Republican Women Luncheon Thursday

MercerEarly Police Chief David Mercer will be speaking at the Pecan Valley Republican Women luncheon on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the Brownwood Country Club at 11:30 a.m.  Chief Mercer will give an overview of his department and crime in general, then will focus on safety for women.

Chief Mercer is a career peace officer and EMT who graduated from Comanche High School, TSTC EMT program, and West Central Texas Council of Government Law Enforcement Academy.  His career includes both MedEvac as an EMT, and stints as a patrol officer in the Police Departments at Comanche and Brownwood, as well as the Brown County Sheriff’s Department where he formed and trained the Tactical Unit. Mercer has worked high-profile federal narcotics investigations with DEA, ATF, Customs, and FBI.

David and his wife Christy, a Managing Agent Supervisor for the Brownwood Housing Authority, have two sons. Kagan, 19, who is currently attending Fire Academy in Waco, and Kylar who is a freshman at Early High School.

This luncheon was rescheduled from September to this new date this Thursday.
