Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit announces award winners

The Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit held its award ceremony and VIP reception Saturday night, where this year’s honorees were revealed.

Award winners include:

  • $1,000 Dorothy Mayes Best of Show – sponsored by Jane Ellen Jamar – goes to John Mulvany for “Lizard becomes the Stars” oil painting 
  • $750 Juror Award – sponsored by Big Country Ford – goes to Sheri Wilson for “Watching the World Burn” mixed media
  • $500 Dr. Joyce R. Wilson Student Award – sponsored by the Wilson Family – goes to Cloey Petty for “Stand Tall” watercolor  
  • $500 Watercolor Award – sponsored by Hutson Creative – goes to Barbara Doberenz for “The Tangle” watercolor
  • $500 3D Award – sponsored by Empire Iron Works – goes to Linda Strickland for “Billy Jack” sculpture
  • $500 Kohler Award – sponsored by Kohler – goes to Sheri Wilson for “The Love Letter” pencil
  • $500 Merit Award – sponsored by Charles & Kay Beth Stavley goes to Joan Stewart for “Midlandia” fiber and textile art
  • $500 Photography Award – sponsored by Coldwell Banker, Mark Campbell & Associates – goes to Melody A. Schlotte for “Urban Blight #1” photograph
  • $500 Oil Medium Award – sponsored by Sally & Robert Porter – goes to Patty Rae Wellborn for “Chemo Warrior” oil painting
  • $500 Mary & Ernest Cadenhead Memorial Pastel Award – sponsored by Ross & Nesa Setzler – goes to Kit Timmons for “Comfort” pastel work
