Early High School will be hosting the UIL Region 7 West Zone Marching Contest this Saturday, Oct 19.

This is the first time this contest will be hosted in Early.  Twenty-six Class A, AA, and AAA bands from all across central Texas will be descending upon Longhorn Stadium to present the marching shows they have been hard at work on since early August.

The class A and AA bands will also be seeking an opportunity for advancement to the UIL Area Marching Contest on October 26.  Bands must receive a 1st Division rating in order to qualify for the next level.

The contest will begin at 10 am and run until 6:15 pm.  At 6:30 pm, the Tarleton State University Marching Band, under the direction of Dr. Gary Westbrook, will end the day with an exhibition performance.

Each of the four Brown County schools with band programs will be performing:  May at 1:45, Early at 3:45, Bangs at 5:30, and Brownwood at 6:00.  The public is encouraged and invited to attend.  Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for students.
