In conjunction with the Brownwood Reunion Hands on a House Competition held this past weekend, participants and sponsors raised 10,979 canned goods in their annual food drive with help from local schools.

Local elementary and middle schools participated in this food drive for the third year for the Hands on a House competition, bringing in a total of 6,147 cans during the event.  The top school in this challenge was Northwest Elementary School, collecting 2,171 cans.

The food raised in the drive benefits Good Samaritan Ministries and St. John’s Food Bank each year.

Totals from individual schools in the Kick-Start Food Drive were as follows:

1st Place:  Northwest Elementary  2,171 cans

Each of the top classes listed above will receive a pizza party which will be scheduled in the next few weeks and hosted by Coldwell Banker and the event sponsors.

During the event, Key Club members from Brownwood and Early High Schools assisted in counting cans and loading them into trailers (the use of the trailers was donated by Early Trailer Sales) for storage during the contest and delivery after the food drives were completed.  Food items were divided equally between the two charities.

Coldwell Banker, Mark Campbell & Associates along with their sponsors for the event, (TexasBank Mortgage, Landmark Life Insurance Company, Ingram Concrete LLC, and Johnny Cantwell – Contractor) began the food drive with an intercompany challenge.  These companies raised 466 cans during the event and the top donor was Landmark Life Insurance.

Officials at Coldwell Banker state, “We want to offer a big thanks to the community for all of the wonderful support for this year’s Hands-on-a-House Food Drive for Good Samaritan Ministries and St. John’s Food Bank.  You all did good.”
