In Big Spring she worked in the credit department of Montgomery Ward, First National bank, and in the accounting and finance office of Webb Air Force Base for 14 years before retiring in 1973. She was a member of Coggin Avenue Baptist church since moving to Brownwood in 1981.

She is survived by her sister, Margie Byrd Reese of Vernon, cousin MaryAnn Hitt of California; nephews and nieces, Kim and George Campbell of Blanket, Bill Byrd of Brownwood, Patti and David Bushman of Burleson, Beverly and Gerry Young of Montgomery, Mitzi and Ray Young of Grand Prairie, and Debbie Witt of Euless; as well as great nephews and nieces, Katie Campbell, Courtney and Adam Greene, Chris Bushman, Casey and Sarah Bushman, Cara Bushman, Amie and Ryan Turnage, and Stephanie Witt.
