BFD Fire & Rescue Reports 9/10

BFDlogoSmallReports released for the week of September 2-8, 2013 from the Brownwood Fire Department include 19 medical emergencies, 8 fire calls, 1 hazardous materials call, 1 public assistance call and 2 motor vehicle accidents.

Reports of interest include the following:

Wednesday, September 4

*5:57 PM – BFD responded to the 1700 block of Woodridge where they were dispatched for a child locked inside a vehicle.  Firefighters unlocked the vehicle and returned the child to the parents.

*8:16 PM – BFD was called to a fire in the 3900 block of Oakdale.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find flames showing from shed in the back yard.  The front bumper line was pulled and the fire was quickly extinguished.  Firefighters checked for extension of the fire before clearing the scene.

*10:05 PM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 1000 block of Center.  The incident was determined to be an alarm system malfunction.   The alarm panel was reset.

Thursday, September 5

*3:04 PM – BFD was called to a fire in the 1500 block of Indian Creek Drive.  Firefighters were dispatched for an alarm activation.  The incident was determined to be an unintentional activation and there was no fire.

*3:46 PM – BFD responded to the report of a lightning strike to a residential dwelling in the 4700 block of River Oaks Drive.   Firefighters arrived on scene to find nothing showing.  A satellite dish attached to the side of the home had been struck by lightning.  Fire crews searched inside the home and in the attic using the thermal camera and no problems were found.

*3:52 PM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 1000 block of W. Commerce.  Fire crews responded to downed power lines which were later determined to be old phone lines.

*3:55 PM – BFD was called to a fire in the Melwood/Coleman Street area.  The incident was determined to be arcing of shorted electrical equipment.

Friday, September 6

*3:24 PM – BFD responded to a motor vehicle accident in the 3100 block of W. Hwy 67 involving a single vehicle roll over.  BFD assisted Guardian EMS with loading of the patient for transport.

Saturday, September 7

*12:00 AM – BFD responded to a two-vehicle accident in the area of 4th Street and Fisk. One patient was transported to Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

*8:56 PM – BFD was dispatched to a structure fire call in the 2600 block of Morris Sheppard.  Firefighters responded to an alarm activation and upon arrival found nothing showing.

Sunday, September 8

*1:35 PM – BFD responded to a gas leak in the 1000 block of Lillie Kimble Street.

*9:32 PM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 4200 block of Hwy 377 S.  Firefighters were dispatched for a fire alarm activation. Firefighters arrived on scene with nothing showing.  Crews searched apartment but nothing was found.
