reunion_logoThe Brownwood Reunion Celebration and the Brownwood Municipal Police Association will present Brown County’s only speed climbing competition during this year’s Reunion event.  Proceeds from the event will help sponsor local scholarships and education for Brown County youth.

The event will be held during the Brownwood Reunion Celebration, and each climber of the rock wall will have three climbs that are timed with the fastest time of the three being entered toward the prizes from Aaron’s Furniture.

Entry fee is $15 per climber, and categories this year are juniors 14 yrs and under and seniors 15 and up. Prizes include a 46” Panasonic plasma TV valued at $950 and a Toshiba Laptop Computer valued at $825.

The competition will start 5:00 PM on Friday the 20th and continue until 8:00 PM Saturday the 21st. Winners will be announced on Sunday September 22nd.

Registration forms are available online at CelebrateBrownwood.com or at the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce.  Contestants may also register at the rock wall which will be located on the Brownwood Reunion Celebration festival grounds off of Carnegie Street.

The BMPA would like to offer a special thank you to Aaron’s store manager Joey Doleberry for arranging for the prizes for the competition and to the Brownwood Fitness staff and owners Shane and Jody Easley for volunteering to assist in the competition.

This year’s Brownwood Reunion Celebration will be held September 20, 21, and 22.  The community-wide festival features a variety of contests, events, attractions, music, and food in addition to the main concerts.
