Brown County Training Coalition is gearing up to host another big drug training event and drug awareness program on Friday August 30th at 9:00 a.m. at the Brownwood Coliseum with guest speaker Tiffany Eis.

According to Brownwood Chief of Police Mike Corley, Eis has a very effective testimony she will share with those in attendance.

“I am very pleased and proud to announce this year’s speaker is Tiffany Eis,” Corley said.  “She has very compelling testimony that she will share about the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of making good choices in life.”

Eis had a near death experience because of drugs, mainly methamphetamines and prescription drugs.  Due to not caring about her own personal health, she had two strokes, both legs amputated below the knees, and an aortic heart valve replacement on her 30th birthday. She has an unbelievable story; through determination and hard work, she speaks to influence others to get out and stay out of the world of addictive behaviors through her own moving story.

Eis has had three years experience speaking with middle school, high school and college students across the nation.  Her most recent speaking engagements include:

*Harvard University

*Sponsored by the Elks Lodge for Red Ribbon Week

*Missouri Institute of Mental Health Convention

*Recently, she has had an appearance on Teen Trouble with Josh Shipp on the Lifetime Network.

Last year Brown County Training Coalition sponsored a drug awareness training event with featured speaker Kevin Brooks who shared his story with adults and students who attended the event.  Corley stated that the presentation was “very moving and everyone in attendance considered it a great success.”

Corley and others organizing the event hope that it will be “bigger and better” than last year.

Like last year, many area school districts are planning to bring their students to the event.

“I think it is a great message for parents and grandparents, and well, for everyone,” said Corley.  “It is free and the presentation will only last for an hour or just a little longer.”

To keep the keynote speaker free to the public, the Drug Training Coalition is working hard to raise funds with sports memorabilia auctions and more, including an autographed baseball from Texas Rangers outfielder David Murphy and four (4) tickets to a Rangers home game.

Corley stated that the event is organized by the Brown County Drug Training Coalition.

“We are all excited about this event,” said Corley.  He encourages people of all ages to attend.  “This is an awesome group that does so much for our community.”
