As of 2:45 PM Thursday afternoon, Brownwood’s KBUB Country Gospel Radio station is back to full power, using a new American-made Nautel VS-1 Transmitter built in Bangor, Maine.

The new transmitter is Brown County’s first fully solid-state transmitter, which means there no more expensive power tubes to buy.

Brown County Precinct 1 Constable Bob Beadel and his wife Ann officially flipped the power switch on at 2:43 PM Thursday, bringing KBUB back to its full 5500 watts of power. The Beadel’s spear-headed the fund drive that brought in the $8000 to pay for the transmitter.

KBUB is a non-commercial, educational radio station and is supported by donations from its listeners.

“The fundraising efforts were moving slow….largely because of the economy,” said Operations Manager Mike Isbell.  “One day Bob called me and said he wanted to help.  Bob and Ann got involved…things livened up…and the donations came in after just four weeks. We were just $800 short of having enough money to order the transmitter when the High Mesa Cowboy Church brought us a $1400 check. That put us over the line with enough money left over to buy the coaxial cable connections for the new transmitter. Thanks to the Beadels, the High Mesa Cowboy Church, and the many who gave of their own personal resources, KBUB is back to full power and the Christian ministry continues”.

KBUB-FM radio operates at 90.3 with Christian Country music and teachings, and a live morning show with music, local news, and weather. The station is locally owned and operated by Better Living Ministries (BLM) of Brownwood, Inc., and is the only country music based Christian radio station in west central Texas covering nine counties.
