MascorroSalFuneral services for Sallum “Sal” Mascorro, 56, of Brownwood, will be held at 4 pm on Saturday, August 17, in the Netherton Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gerald Green officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm this evening, at the funeral home.

Mr. Mascorro passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at a local nursing facility.

Sallum R. Mascorro was born on December 28, 1956, in Dixon, California to Jesus Mascorro and Maxine Reyes Mascorro. He had lived in Brownwood since he was 17 years old and was blessed with an abundance of family and friends that loved him dearly. Sal was a man of many talents. He had worked as a roofer for Smith Roofing for over 30 years; he was an LVN; a Metal Master; and a talented musician as well. If you knew Sal, you knew that what mattered most to him was his God, his family, and his music. He was a member of the Church of the Lord Jesus where he enjoyed playing his guitar during church services.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his children: Tabitha Gossett of Brownwood, Christina Benbow of Oceanside, California, and Michelle Gonzales and Brianna Gossett, both of Brownwood; his parents, Jesus and Maxine Mascorro of Brownwood; one brother, Efrain Mascorro of Brownwood; sisters, Ada Lopez, Eva Roldan, Dalila Mascorro, and Diana Mendoza, all of Brownwood; and grandchildren, Alyssa, Ethan, Alexis, Xavier, Bryleigh, and Kaytli. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of very dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Peter Sal Mascorro; two brothers, Joel Mascorro and Pete Mascorro; and a granddaughter, A’Varie Gossett.

Family and friends are invited and encouraged to sign the online guestbook at www.nethertonfuneralhome.com .
