Doris Maxine Carter

carterFuneral services for Doris Maxine Carter will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, in the Blanket Church of Christ, with interment to follow in the Blanket Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Heartland Funeral Home Early, Texas. Mrs. Carter passed away at her home near Blanket Monday July 29, 2013.

She was born July 8, 1930, in Gonzales County, Texas, to Newt and Maude Bean Dempsey. She was married to Fred Carter. Her hobbies included cooking, gardening, singing country and gospel music. Maxine was a member of the Blanket Church of Christ, Blanket Lions Club. She was a past member of the Blanket Independent School District board, and the board of directors of the J.R. Beadel foundation.

Maxine is survived by her three daughters, Karen and husband Don Anderson, Jeffre and husband Pat Ryan and Gwen Gaines; and three step-children, Tom and Mark Carter and Mary Rak. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Chris and wife Missy Ryan, Jennifer Ryan, Steven and wife Charlotte Gaines, Susan Anderson, Joshua Stevens, Amanda Stevens, Nicole Gaines, Kindra Gaines, and Samantha Ryan; her great-grandchildren, Jake and wife Emily, Eli, Katie, Kade, Ellie and Hope Ryan, Conner and Ryder Gaines; and one great great-grandchild, Riley Ryan.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Carter; and son, Nicky Gaines.

Heartland Funeral Home of Early is in charge of arrangements.
