BFD Fire & Rescue Reports 7/23

Brownwood Fire Department logoReports released for the two week period from July 7 to July 22, 2013 from the Brownwood Fire Department include 63 medical emergencies, 12 fire calls, motor vehicle accident, and 2 hazardous materials calls.

Sunday, July 7

*1:18 AM – Fire Call 500 E Commerce. Responded to an electrical fire, nothing showing on arrival. Firefighters investigated area with thermal camera but nothing was found.

Tuesday, July 9

*1:56 PM – Fire Call 1000 block of Lewis Dr. Arrived on scene to find man burning trash in a burn container. Resident was advised to put a lid on container.

*4:45 PM – Motor Vehicle Accident 3000 Hwy 67 involving single vehicle with no injuries.

*6:06 PM – Fire Call 2510 Stephen F Austin. Arrived on scene to find utility pole arcing causing a small fire.  Fire was extinguished by Brownwood Utility crew.  Fire crews notified Oncor.

Wednesday, July 10

*12:52 AM – Fire Call 4300 block of Brookdale Dr. Arrived on scene to find nothing showing and advised it was a possible faulty alarm. Firefighters reset alarm system.

Thursday, July 11

*5:48 PM – Haz-Mat call 1500 block Market Place Blvd. Firefighters investigated with gas detector and found that the pilot light on hot water heater was out.  Fire crews shut gas off and ventilated the residence.  Maintenance staff was notified.

Saturday, July 13

8:01 AM – Fire Call 1800 block of Brady Ave. Responded for a transformer on fire.  Arrived on scene to find transformer on fire and arcing.  Evacuated residence and closed off block. Oncor notified.

Monday, July 15

*4:22 PM – Fire Call 1800 block of 1st St. Power lines arcing. Oncor was notified.

Tuesday, July 16

*9:40 AM – Fire Call 1600 Calvert Rd. Responded to Middle school to find alarm system was being worked on.

*6:47 PM – Haz-Mat 600 block Ave C. Responded to call of strong smell of gas in the area. Area was investigated but nothing found.

Thursday, July 18

*10:29 AM – Fire Call 1000 block Center Ave. Fire Alarm activated. Found to be a faulty alarm

Friday, July 19

*6:22 AM – Fire Call Coggin/7th St. Responded to report of smoke in the area.  Units arrived to find smoke coming from alley behind 6th St.  Occupant was burning old furniture, fire was extinguished and occupant was informed of city codes.

*11:05 AM – Fire Call 2800 block N 279. Arrived to find a small grass fire along fence.  Occupant was asked to notify fire dispatch in the future before burning.

*2:19 PM – Fire Call Main/Market Place. Arrived on scene to find downed utility cables laying across a commercial delivery truck with 2 occupants inside.  Traffic was blocked and lines were checked and determined to be old TV cables.  Oncor arrived and lines were cut by firefighters.

Sunday, July 21

*6:00 PM – Fire Call 700 block Home St. Arrived on scene to find a lawnmower on fire.  Firefighters extinguished the fire.
