3MZombie5K3M Brownwood will host a Zombie 5K Getaway run to benefit the Brown County United Way on October 26th.

Organizers state with the weather cooling off by then, it should be a great time to go for a run/walk.  Who wouldn’t run from a zombie no matter what the weather?

The event is still in the planning process and details such as rules and location will be released soon.  Those interested in participating in the race or becoming a sponsor of the event can follow Zombie 5K Getaway on Facebook and Twitter.

All proceeds will benefit the Brown County United Way and all funds raised will stay local.  To maximize the proceeds to the United Way, organizers are looking for sponsors to offset the basic race costs (timing services, shirts, race supplies).  To learn more about becoming a sponsor, please contact organizers at zombie5kgetaway@gmail.com.   Sponsors will be recognized on the event’s websites, shirts, and promotional materials.

The Cowboy Capital Rollergirls have volunteered to help with the event.  Other organizations who wish to volunteer can also contact organizers at zombie5kgetaway@gmail.com.

There will be winners of all ages and classifications (human and zombie), but organizers remind the public that the real winner will be the United Way of Brown County, as all of the proceeds will go to them.
