14UMustangsFundraising4State2013Brown County baseball teams are busy fundraising as they prepare to head to the state tournaments which will begin on Monday, July 22nd.

The 14U Mustangs were standing in the drizzling rain Wednesday morning as they collected money at the Main/Austin Avenue intersection near Station 1 of the Brownwood Fire Department.  Members of the team held signs asking for donations to help send their team to the state tournament.  They filled jars and baseball caps with donations from vehicles that stopped at the intersection.  Pictured above is one of the Mustangs players with his sign.

Other upcoming events are as follows:

Brisket Lunch Fundraiser

The Early Diamondbacks, a 9-10 year-old baseball team is hosting a brisket lunch fundraiser on Saturday, July 20th at Bruner Auto Group in Early to help them fund a trip to the state tournament in Temple.  Brisket lunch plates and drinks will be available beginning at 10:00 a.m. until they are sold out.  According to David Bohn, Toyota Sales Manager at Bruner, the dealership will also be having some “heavy discounts” on vehicles to coincide with this event on the General Motors side of the dealership.

A Day at the Ballpark

The Brownwood Royals will host “A Day at the Ballpark,” a day of competitions such as a home run derby, cannon throw and base running, at the Bert V. Massey Sports Complex on Saturday, July 20th.  This fundraiser will help the team raise money for their trip to Ennis to participate in the 12U state tournament in Ennis.  Registration will begin at 10:00 a.m. and events will start immediately following registration.  Cost is $10 per person.

Each event will be split into age divisions of 8U, 10U, 12U, and 15U (age as of April 1st).  Awards will be given for 1st and 2nd place in each age division.

There will also be booths selling raffle tickets, food, drinks and baked goods.

Help support these local teams by donating and plan to attend these events on Saturday, July 20th.

Bake Sale

Brownwood A’s are having a bake sale at Walgreens to help fund the trip to the 14U state tournament in Hillsboro so come get sweet treats or just to make a donation. Fundraising will be taking place all week.  State play starts Monday.
