The Brownwood Lions and Bangs Dragons made a good effort Friday in the Division II State 7-on-7 football tournament’s championship bracket but came up short in the end.

Brownwood defeated Lorena 34-13 in the first round of the bracket.  They then beat Springtown 46-20 moving them to the final 8 teams in the bracket.  Brownwood was knocked out of the tournament in overtime against Somerset 41-40 in the third round.   Brownwood went undefeated in pool play on Thursday.

The Bangs Dragons were knocked out of the state tournament in the first round by Dallas Episcopal 33-26.

Graham ultimately came out on top in the DII 7-on-7 tournament after defeating Argyle 33-31.
