ElectricFanFlipping on the air conditioning when it’s hot out isn’t an option for some senior citizens.  With temperatures consistently surpassing the 100-degree mark, some senior citizens in the Brown County area are calling on the community to help them beat the heat.  Many of them do not have air conditioning or fans to cool off.

Because of this, Care Nursing & Rehab along with Good Samaritan Ministries and the Salvation Army are working to on the “Fantastic Fan Drive,” gathering up electric fans and distributing them to qualified senior citizens within the county.

“After calling many officials in the Brown County area the response is that we need to reach out and help was a unanimous vote,” said Jodie Armstrong, Marketing and Admissions at Care Nursing & Rehab.  “Health officials say seniors are the most at risk for heat related health problems.  They say these conditions can range from mild discomfort to full-fledged emergencies.”

The public can help by dropping off new box or table fans and/or monetary donations at Care Nursing & Rehab, located at 200 County Road 616 in Early, or call 325-642-0363 to arrange for volunteers to pick up a donation.  For more information, call Jodie Armstrong at 325-642-0363.
