2013SigmaBetaDeltaInductees

Howard Payne University’s School of Business inducted five new members into the Sigma Beta Delta International Business Honor Society at an induction ceremony during the spring 2013 semester.

This year’s inductees were Brittany Bailey, a senior from Georgetown; Jarrod McCandless, a junior from Brownwood; Ethan Fisher, a May graduate from Mullin; Jeremy Hogue, a junior from Brownwood; and Keeley Lowrance, a senior from Eastland.

Emily Attaway, assistant vice president for finance at HPU, was the keynote speaker at the induction ceremony. Attaway, a member of Sigma Beta Delta, received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from HPU in 2009 and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a master’s degree in accounting from The University of Texas at Dallas in 2010.

Sigma Beta Delta was founded as a national organization in 1994, for NCAA Division III universities and is accredited by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education. HPU’s chapter received its charter in 1999. Officers for 2012-2013 are Dr. Trissa Cox, associate professor of computer information systems, president and advisor; Dr. Lois Patton, professor of business administration, vice-president; and Mike Dillard, assistant professor of business administration, secretary/treasurer.

The honor society was established to recognize outstanding scholarship by students enrolled in institutions that have regional accreditation and to encourage and promote aspirations toward personal and professional improvement and a life distinguished by honorable service to humankind. Its activities are coordinated with those of Beta Gamma Sigma and Delta Mu Delta, business honor societies at NCAA Division I and II universities, to ensure that all outstanding students of business receive the recognition they deserve. Membership in Sigma Beta Delta is for life.

Pictured above are recent inductees to the Sigma Beta Delta International Business Honor Society. The inductees were, from left, Keeley Lowrance, Jarrod McCandless, Jeremy Hogue, Ethan Fisher and Brittany Bailey.
